have a blessed day!

a relatively new phenomenon is the have a blessed day instead of have a nice day.

it is a way to immediately separate yourself as a believer.

...... which is not a bad thing.... but like all good things, can be.

at its best, it says i am grateful and i wish the same good for you that i want for myself.

at its worse, it's just another divider between us and them.

i've spent a lot of my time lately thinking about what it means to be blessed.

how do we have a blessed day?

the sermon on the mount does not seem to agree with the way most people talk about being blessed.....

i was so blessed that our house was spared...

i've been so blessed to have such good children...

we were so blessed to get a ticket for the show....

truth is, that's grateful, not blessed.

blessed is something far deeper and truer than to have something good in your life.

blessed is being comforted when you cry

blessed is a cup of water when you are parched from thirst in a lonely desert

blessed is forgiveness from someone you have wronged.

blessed is what god offers to all, not a chosen few.

blessed is emanuel.

blessed is god with us.

this picture, or one very like it, hung in my mother's bedroom. it was a daily reminder that we were never alone.

it was a message of god's presence always.

our very good friends lost their precious, only daughter at 15 to a car wreck.

i can't remember the verse, but i read something in isaiah that talked about the angels being there and i had such a powerful image of an angel scooping her broken body from that broken car.

the very definition of an angel is a messenger of god.

what does it mean to have a blessed day?

it means we will never be alone.

it means god with us.

it is the good news of the gospel.
