no more fighting insurance companies
no more hours of frustration trying to get them to pay for what they promised to pay for
birthday number 65
i haven't had a birthday give me such pause since my daughter turned 13.
am i reflective because it's 65 or because there's a life threatening pandemic around the world?
probably some of both.
what a long strange trip it's been!
my life has been one great adventure. i credit my parents for my courage and my paternal grandmother for my curiosity.
my grandmother never got to go to college, something she always wanted..... but she traveled the world, read voraciously and became a self-taught historian.
she was feisty, and i still miss her.
when i was 19, she took me on an african safari
forty years later, i returned to south africa with my daughter
how cool is that!
fortunately, i married a fellow traveler and we've been meandering around together for forty years.
mostly either with or going to our children
when you travel, you realize how little you really need.
learning to travel light is one of my greatest life lessons
